Terms of use

Last updated September 30, 2026.

By using BirdHunt you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Regulation information is a guide, not the law

Season dates, bag limits, license requirements, fees, draw deadlines and shooting hours on BirdHunt are compiled from state and federal wildlife agencies, and each item links to its source. We check them carefully, but agencies change rules during the year, publish corrections and sometimes close seasons on short notice, and we can make mistakes.

The official regulations always govern. Before you buy a license, apply for a draw or go hunting, confirm the details with the state agency. You're responsible for knowing and following the law where you hunt. BirdHunt isn't a government site, isn't affiliated with any agency, and doesn't give legal advice.

If you find something wrong, please use the "Report a correction" link on the page or write to reply to any email from us. We fix confirmed errors quickly.

Accounts and alerts

You sign in with a link we email you; keep access to that inbox to yourself. Alert emails are a convenience: a delivery can fail or arrive late, and a missed alert doesn't change a deadline. Keep your own calendar for anything that matters.

Memberships

Paid memberships are billed yearly through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account; your membership then runs to the end of the year you paid for. A founding member's price stays the same for as long as the membership continues without a break. If we charge you in error, write to reply to any email from us and we'll make it right.

Sweepstakes

Each sweepstakes is governed by its own official rules, shown on its page. No purchase is ever necessary to enter.

Outfitters, gear and other sites

Outfitters, guides and retailers we list or link to are independent businesses. We don't book hunts, take deposits or guarantee their services; any arrangement is between you and them, so check licensing, insurance and references yourself. Some gear links are affiliate links, which we mark (see our privacy page).

Using the site fairly

Don't scrape the site in bulk, try to get around rate limits or sign-in, or use it to send spam. Content we write (trip reviews, Field Notes, summaries) is ours; the regulations themselves belong to the public, and you're welcome to quote them.

Limits of our responsibility

BirdHunt is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses that come from relying on information on the site, including fines, missed draws, license costs or trip expenses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. Questions: reply to any email from us.
