How waterfowl shooting hours work
Federal rules set duck and goose shooting hours at one-half hour before sunrise to sunset, and most states use them for their regular seasons. Some seasons differ: the spring light goose conservation order often runs to one-half hour after sunset, some wildlife management areas close at noon, and a few states start at sunrise for certain species.
Sunrise comes about four minutes later for every 50 miles you move west within a time zone, so a single time for a whole state isn't close enough. Pick the nearest town or use your location.
