How nonresidents hunt upland birds in South Carolina
Nonresidents buy the nonresident state hunting license (annual, 10-day or 3-day) over the counter, plus the WMA permit on wildlife management areas. Quail hunting is mostly on private plantations and managed WMAs; grouse only in the mountains (Game Zone 1).
Quail Nov. 23, 2026 - Mar. 1, 2027; grouse (Game Zone 1) Nov. 26 - Mar. 1.
