Spring turkey 2027

Where nonresidents can buy a turkey tag

Every state sorted by how an out-of-state hunter gets a spring tag.

Planning a spring road trip or chasing a grand slam starts with one question: can I just buy the tag? Here's every state grouped by how nonresidents get one. Draw deadlines for most states fall between December and February, so apply early. The Turkey Tag & Draw Planner compares costs and deadlines side by side.

Over the counter (30)

Buy a nonresident license and tag any time before you go; no application.

Over the counter in some areas (14)

Much of the state is over the counter, but some units or hunts need a draw.

First come, first served (1)

A capped number of nonresident permits go on sale; when they're gone, they're gone.

Draw only (3)

You have to apply, usually in winter, and hope to be drawn.

Residents only (1)

No spring turkey hunting for nonresidents.

Rules change every year; confirm with the state agency before you buy.
